Creative Academy participated in a recent ‘JBCN Teacher Exchange and Partnership Program(J-TEP): Cultivating Global Connections’ held in Mumbai dated from July 8 to 16 that aimed to bring international perspectives into classrooms by collecting opinions of teachers from over 5 countries.

J-TEP is an emulsion of skill enhancement through seminars, training sessions, panel discussions, curriculum refinement, and pedagogy, as well as cultural fusion. Over ten days, educators taught together and collaborated to bring best practices for classroom instruction. They exchanged ideas about gamification in the classroom to keep up with new teaching and learning methods. Educators participated in collective research efforts as well, to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, as stated by JBCN.

Kaushal Oli, one of the delegates from Creative Academy at the program, shared his experience, stating, “The family of JBCN Borivali showed us warmth and made us feel at home immediately. I met friendly professional team members who shared best practices, challenges, and ideas about teaching and learning. I learned a lot from them, and today I’ve shared a few of my own experiences and thoughts. We had a fruitful and engaging exchange session that enriched my knowledge and skills. I also had an opportunity to visit a school and witness the amazing work of the students and teachers. I was struck by the creativity, innovation, and collaboration I saw in every classroom and corner. I felt like I was in a magical place where learning was fun and meaningful. I also met fellow delegates from different countries who participated in the exchange program. They were so kind and gentle and; we had a heart-to-heart exchange in no time. We had a common passion for education, and we learned from each other’s experiences and cultures. We have developed a strong friendship and mutual support that transcends the boundaries of geography and language.”

In a unique and educational initiative, a group of aspirant students from Media Club of Creative Academy had the opportunity to step into the world of journalism by visiting the newsroom of a prominent news channel, Himal Khabar. The visit was organized to provide students with an opportunity to observe and comprehend how news is gathered, processed, and presented to the public.

The students were given a tour of the newsroom during their visit, where they observed several journalists and editors putting up significant effort in their various positions. They got to observe the process of gathering information, confirming it, and turning it into captivating news broadcasts.

The students also had the opportunity to engage in interactive sessions with the chief editor Santa Gaha Magar, who shared his experiences and insights into the field. The students from Creative Academy asked him many questions. Among these was Eva Swar's query, "How do you resolve the conflicts that arise here?"

In response, he remarked, "Before, the king and other powerful people had the authority to control the media, any post they didn't like would be immediately removed at their request. Although we keep getting threats from a number of people for reporting on them, we stick to our principles and limitations”.

Similarly, in a response to a question if he was ever afraid to lose his dear ones and loved ones. He stated using an instance, "Once one of my friends experienced such an issue and to handle the matter he stood out of that case, and advised others to report about it instead, and it went pretty well. As a journalist, you must be honest to your readers and put journalism first, even if it means going up against your loved ones”.

Similarly, other students of CA also raised their questions. They learned about the importance of ethical reporting, unbiased journalism, and the role of media in society. The students left the newsroom with a deeper awe and appreciation for the hard work and dedication put forth into producing reliable and timely news.

Along with that opportunity they also got a chance to visit Bangalamukhi temple and Madan Puraskar Library.

"Exploring the Heart of Journalism”

27th August 2023

On that memorable day, which marked the 24th of August 2023 (7th of Bhadra 2080), a group of individuals came together as passionate supporters and members of the "Media Club of Creative Academy" to visit the newsroom of Himal Media.

Precisely at 2 pm, our team of Media Club of Creative Academy departed from the school. We embarked on a scenic journey through the picturesque streets of Jhamsikhel and Pulchok, ultimately reaching our eagerly anticipated destination: the Himal Newsroom in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur.

As we stepped into the working space, we were greeted with an atmosphere charged with excitement and dedication. Journalists and photographers were deeply focused in their work, each equipped with a personal computer and a compact workspace. The room buzzed with collaboration as reporters exchanged insights, and editors polished the stories to meet the highest standards.

Upon entering the actual newsroom, we found ourselves in a realm of vibrant ideas and had the privilege to meet the Chief Editor of Himal Media, Santa Gaha Magar. His response was remarkable, as he patiently addressed each of our inquiries in a calm manner, firmly rooted in facts. When Prapti and I inquired about the challenges journalists face, he answered saying, "It's undeniably a risky profession; dissatisfied individuals may storm our offices with warnings and threats. But from my own experience, I believe that with time, situations tend to cool down on their own. It's daunting, but it's a challenge we must confront."

Our colleague, Jaya, later reflected, "His words were genuinely inspiring."

Our tour also led us to the studio where interviews are conducted, was an experience similar to stepping onto a movie set. "It was magical", I thought.

We were also fortunate to explore the "Madan Library," a place that truly left us in awe. Lakxhman, journalist from Himal Khabar, excitedly shared, "Here, you can discover a wealth of Nepali literature; most of the books are available, and the best part is, you're welcome to immerse yourself in these literary treasures right here in the library without any charge."

With some spare time in our hands, our curiosity led us to explore a temple brimming with cultural significance known as "Bangla Mukhi," nestled in the heart of Lalitpur.

Our journey came to a close, leaving us with a moral that: "Journalism may be a challenging profession, but the passion and curiosity within you should never deter you from pursuing what you love – unveiling the truth about society and expressing your thoughts through the power of your words."
